John Williams, Founder and CEO
Since completing the Linux kernel port for MicroBlaze back in 2003, John has been recognised as a world leader in the FPGA/Embedded Linux technology platform, working with a wide range of commercial and public sector organisations, including providing research support to NASA for the Reconfigurable Scalable Computing Project. Starting as a consulting service through The University of Queensland where he retains teaching and research positions, John oversaw the successful spinout of PetaLogix into a privately held company in 2007. John holds Honours degrees in Electronic Engineering and Information Technology, and was awarded a PhD in 2001 for his work in 3D computer vision and image processing.
Wendy Liang, Platform Services Engineer
Wendy has a degree in Telecommunication Engineering and a Masters in Electrical engineering in which she investigated and compared the performance and resource usage of different types of network-on-chip architectures. She has professional experience in telecommunications and in FPGA hardware/software design. Since 2008, she has worked with PetaLogix in our Brisbane office.
Michal Simek, Chief Kernel Engineer
Since 2005, Michal has developed professional experience with a range of embedded operating systems. Completing a Masters in Computer Science and Engineering at Czech Technical University in Prague in 2007, he was a visiting scholar at The University of Queensland at the end of 2007 where he met John Williams. Michal has been the U-Boot custodian for the MicroBlaze CPU since the project was forked in February 2007. In 2009 he has worked to achieve the acceptance of MicroBlaze into the mainline kernel sources, a feat achieved in the 2.6.30 kernel release cycle, and he is now recognised as the maintainer of the MicroBlaze architecture. Based in the Czech Republic, Michal has been with Petalogix since 2008.
Karen Whelan, Business Development Manager
Karen has a degree in Manufacturing and Materials Engineering. She
has experience in a range of Management and Educational Development
roles in universities, that have seen her develop skills in project
management, business organisation and presentation. In 2009, she
joined PetaLogix to focus on Business Development and Management. Karen
is based in our Brisbane office.
Jason Wu, Embedded Engineer
Jason has a degree in Electrical Engineering, a Masters in Electrical Engineering, and his PhD thesis is currently under review. He investigated and created a Integer Linear Programming model to solve the FPGA based multiprocessor architecture design problem along with task mapping and scheduling problems. Since July 2010, he has worked with PetaLogix in our Brisbane office. Among other things, Jason manages the PetaLogix training materials that are taught through the Xilinx University Program and Authorised Training Provider network, and took a leading role in adding Zynq architecture support to PetaLinux SDK.
David Holsgrove, Embedded Engineer

Peter Crosthwaite, R&D Engineer
Peter has a degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Queensland, Australia. Peter joined PetaLogix in early 2010 and has worked on a number of R&D and prototyping projects for PetaLogix clients. Peter is a core developer on the QEMU models for Xilinx MicroBlaze, Zynq and IP models, and continues development of PetaLogix platform simulation products. He is based in the Brisbane office.
