MTD flash partition names not passed to the kernel

I have created the flash partition map using the PetaLinux system configuration menu, however when the kernel boots the '/proc/mtd' file is empty, and there are no MTD partitions defined.

JFFS2 warning "CLEANMARKER not first node in block"

After configuring my PetaLinux system for JFFS2 root, I receive warning messages from JFFS2 upon boot about CLEANMARKER nodes

"ERROR: Unable to reach PetaLogix server"

My PC is connected to the internet and I can reach the PetaLogix website from my web browser. However, when loading the 'settings.sh' script after installation, I get this error message.

Installing gdbserver fails under Ubuntu or 64-bit CentOS

During the 'make romfs' phase, installing the gdbserver application fails

Loading the PetaLinux 'settings.sh' script, I get an error saying that 'git' cannot be found. But, when I try to install it with yum, the error is "No package git available"

/vendors/XX/YY defaults not updated

When I run petalinux-copy-autoconfig to propogate the hardware platform settings across to the PetaLinux software platform, the platform defaults in petalinux-dist/vendors/XXX/YYY are not updated

How can I build and boot compressed kernel images?

The default image.elf and image.ub system images are not compressed. Is it possible to create and boot from compressed images, to save Flash memory space?
